Upcoming Class Schedule

All classes are from 6-7 PM at the Natural Path Health Center

September 2nd - Stress Less - stress affects everyone. This talk is about how stress affects health and weight loss, while providing tips and tools to stress less.  Susanne Benton, massage and reiki practitioner will be giving free chair massages and explaining the health benefits of massage and reiki. 

September 16th - Exercise - You Have to Move to Lose! - a local fitness expert from the Monkey Bar Gym will talk about different types of exercises, and how exercise impacts not only weight loss, but overall health.   Wear your workout clothes and be ready to move! 

October 7th - Weight, Body Image and Emotion - How many times have most of us started and even succeeded in losing weight? How many times have we beat ourselves up for not having "enough" will power and for eating that cookie even though we swore we wouldn't? And while we may finally be finding some answers by identifying obstacles to our weight loss through this program, how often do we still identify our self worth with the number that registers on the scale rather than how we feel? This class will explore the emotional patterns and feelings that underlie our eating as well as tools that can be useful in restoring balance and achieving our goals once and for all! 

October 21st - Toxic Burden - environmental and internal toxins play a role in weight loss resistance. Nutrients and certain foods that support detoxification are described in a PowerPoint presentation. Finally, ways that toxins can be avoided are discussed. 

November 4th - Reading Labels and Shopping Tips - this class is intended to help individuals pick out foods that have the best nutritional value. Tips such as decoding food labels, shopping the perimeter of a grocery store, and not eating packaged foods are examples of what is discussed. 

November 18th - Cooking Class – Healthy Recipes for the Holidays - this class takes place before Thanksgiving, and is an interactive cooking class that provides healthy alternatives to popular holiday dishes. 

December 2nd - Portion Control to the Rescue – portion sizes in America have increased tremendously. This class is designed to make people aware of how much food they are putting into their bodies.  Everyday objects representing specific portion sizes are passed out and discussed. A game called portion distortion is used to demonstrate how portion sizes have really changed over the last 20 to 30 years. Finally tips on how portion control can be implemented in everyday life are discussed. 

December 16th - Dining out Successfully - it is inevitable that people are going to dine out. This class helps an individual make the best choices possible and identifies local restaurants that provide high-quality foods.


*All classes include cooking demonstrations and recipes.
